Can you believe that it is already December?
We are over one third of the way through the year and things
are going smoothly. The
first trimester ended on November 9.
If you are concerned about any of your student’s grades,
please feel free to contact your student’s teachers and make an
appointment for an conference. Our
goal is to work with you and your student to set them on the course
to success.
We have implemented a new program this year to offer more
support for your student. This
month we have instituted our No Excuses Homework policy.
Three times a week, we are running a study hall during lunch
for students to finish homework.
Any child that does not complete their homework will get a
referral to the No Excuses Homework club.
Students report to a classroom, eat lunch and work on their
homework. Homework is a
vital part of the learning process and has been shown in studies to
be a factor in improving student performance.
If you have any questions regarding this policy please feel
free to call me at school.
In January,
Navelencia
Middle School
will be offering a special program for all of the learning
community. We will be
addressing parent concerns about middle school issues, with a panel
of both school and community resources.
Please make sure that you look for the announcement in the
mail.
With February around the corner, we are getting ready to begin
our After-school program in the New Year.
Students will be offered a variety of academic support,
enrichment and recreational opportunities.
We are looking forward to offering our students opportunities
to have structured after-school activities until
6:00PM
. This program is funded
by a grant from the California Department of Education.
As funding is released and the program starts, we will keep
you informed.
On a personal note, I want to thank the staff, students,
parents and community members that have been instrumental in making
Navelencia a wonderful place to be.
I consider my job a great responsibility to be entrusted with
such a treasure. If I
can be of any help, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jeremy L. Brown
